TWO-TIME IDAHO CHAMPION A CLASSIC CHOICE

 

PITTSBURGH – Travis Pascoe of Gonzaga Prep High School, a two-time Idaho state champion, has been selected to participate on the United States team in the 26th annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic scheduled for Saturday March 25 at the University of Pittsburgh’s Fitzgerald Field House.

He will compete at 189 pounds.

Pascoe, the son of Lee and Julie Pascoe of Rathdrum, Idaho, won 33 of 34 bouts as a junior. He won 33 of 35 bouts as a sophomore, winning Washington state titles both years. As a freshman, Pascoe compiled a 32-5 record and finished as a Idaho state runner-up

He finished second at the Cadet Nationals in 1997 and was third at the Junior Nationals in 1999. In 1996, Pascoe was a fourth-place finisher at the Cadet World Team Trials.

The Dapper Dan Classic, partially funded by UPMC Health System, benefits the boys and girls club of Western Pennsylvania.

The Wrestling classic, dubbed "The Rose Bowl of Wrestling," is the premier high school all-star dual meet in the United States.

The preliminary match will feature WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania) stars going against

Nebraska’s best at 5:30 p.m. The main event – Pennsylvania versus USA will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Pennsylvania leads the series 14-10-1.
