160 Steve Forrest 

FORREST NAMED TO USA CLASSIC TEAM

 

PITTSBURGH –Steve Forrest, a two-time state champion from Mt. Anthony High School in Vermont, has been selected to participate on the United States team in the 26th annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic scheduled for Saturday March 25 at the University of Pittsburgh’s Fitzgerald Field House.

He will compete at 160 pounds.

Last season, he compiled a 54-2 record in winning the state championship and also the New England Tournament championship.

As a sophomore, he went 42-8 and was the Vermont runner-up. As a freshman, Forrest won 43 of 52 bouts and won his first state championship.

He is the son of Charles and Kim Forrest.

Forrest’s career record coming into his senior season was 139-19 and he was ranked No. 1 by Inter-mat at 171 pounds; ranked No. 2 by Wrestling USA; and ranked No. 4 by Amateur Wrestling News.

He was the Outstanding Wrestler in the state tournament in 1999 and the New England Tournament.

The Dapper Dan Classic, partially funded by UPMC Health System, benefits the boys and girls club of Western Pennsylvania.

The Wrestling classic, dubbed "The Rose Bowl of Wrestling," is the premier high school all-star dual meet in the United States.

The preliminary match will feature WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania) stars going against Nebraska’s best at 5:30 p.m. The main event – Pennsylvania versus USA will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Pennsylvania leads the series 14-10-1.
