COLLUM NAMED TO USA CLASSIC TEAM

PITTSBURGH – Paul Collum, a two-time Illinois state champion and two-time state Freestyle champion, of Romeoville High School and Bolingbrook, Ill., has been selected to participate on the United States team in the 26th annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic scheduled for Saturday March 25 at the University of Pittsburgh’s Fitzgerald Field House.
He will compete at 125 pounds.
In addition to his two Illinois state scholastic and the Freestyle championships, Collum was a Cadet National Freestyle champion in 1998 and a Greco Roman state champion. He placed third, fourth and second in the Cadet World Team Trial in 1996-98 and is ranked first at 125 pounds, among scholastic seniors, by Wrestling USA magazine.
Collum compiled a 34-0 record in winning his second state title in 1999. As a sophomore he went 37-0 in winning the state championship. He was 40-6 and was in the top eight in the states as a freshman.
He has signed with the University of Illinois
The Dapper Dan Classic, partially funded by UPMC Health System, benefits the boys and girls club of Western Pennsylvania.
The Wrestling classic, dubbed "The Rose Bowl of Wrestling," is the premier high school all-star dual meet in the United States.
The preliminary match will feature WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania) stars going against Nebraska’s best at 5:30 p.m. The main event – Pennsylvania versus USA will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Pennsylvania leads the series 14-10-1.
