THREE-TIME OHIO STATE CHAMPION LESTER SELECTED TO DAPPER DAN CLASSIC U.S. TEAM |
PITTSBURGH – Harry Lester, a three-time Ohio state champion from Cuyahoga Valley Academy in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, has been selected to wrestle at 130 pounds for the United States team in the 27th annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic scheduled for Saturday, March 24 at the University of Pittsburgh’s Fitzgerald Field House.
Lester, who entered this season with a 117-2 record in three years, was a Junior National Greco-Roman champion in 2000, a Cadet National Greco-Roman champion in 1999 and a Cadet Freestyle World Champion in 1999.
Lester is a two-time NHSCA national champion and a two-time Cadet Freestyle All-American.
Lester, a resident of Akron, Ohio, is currently 36-0 this season.
Previously, heavyweight Steve Mocco of Blair Academy, Blairstown, N.J., Matt Nagel (152) of Frazee High School, Frazee, Minn.; Marcus LeVesseur (145) of Bloomington-Kennedy High School in Minneapolis, Minn., and Shane Webster (171) of Crater High School, Central Point, Oregon, were named to the U.S. squad.
The Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic, partially funded by UPMC Health System, benefits the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania.
The Wrestling Classic, dubbed "The Rose Bowl of Wrestling," is the premier high school all-star dual meet in the United States.
The preliminary match will feature WPIAL stars going against Minnesota’s best at 5:30 p.m. The main event – Pennsylvania versus the USA will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Pennsylvania leads the all-time series 15-10-1.
